The Binchotan "white" charcoal comes from Asia. The centuries-old Japanese production process ensures a high-quality charcoal. The very high carbon percentage of the Binchotan Maitiew (96-98%!) ensures that temperatures above 800 degrees are achievable. Not every bbq can handle this. A box of Maitiew Binchotan contains a combination of chunks and semi long bars.

The Binchotan is free of sparks or smoke flavor and burns extremely long. Due to the extreme hardness, it is therefore more difficult to ignite. Use a coal starter for lighting and allow 50 to 60 minutes for the product to start up.

A few pieces of Binchotan between the regular charcoal is of course also possible. However, the binchotan is a harder type of charcoal that can still be found in the BBQ after several sessions.
